Paris Hilton On Her 20th Fragrance, Gold Rush

celebrity Paris Hilton shares about 20th fragrance Gold Rush
Of course I couldn't contain myself when I realized instead of folding laundry for the evening, I would be chatting with Paris Hilton. I mean, NBD. (She did call me sweetheart before she hung up. Squeal.) At just 35 (umm, that may or may not be my age), she's taken the fragrance industry by storm. Her newest release of Gold Rush, available on HSN.com for $60, is her 20th one. (and the men's version is coming next month!)

The heiress now labels herself as an expert, and rightly she should. When I spoke to her on the phone, she shared with me how she's loved fragrances all her life. "I just love perfume - ever since I was a little girl," she told me (in her new, sexy and sultry voice, might I add). She mentioned playing around in her mother's boudoir and spraying all of her different perfumes. "I now have 20 - and it's a dream come true," she tells me. "I love fragrance because it puts me in a good mood."

Gold Rush is "sexy, seductive and more mature now that I've evolved and grown up," she explains. "I'm very proud of the results." Think Old Hollywood glamour with notes of lemon, bergamot and nectarine mixed with velvet orchid, violet and rose petals all on a base of vanilla, praline and cashmere wood. Doesn't that sound enticing, girls?

And the bottle, of course, is just as gorgeous as it sounds. "I love gold," Paris says. "It's so elegant and a strong color. I have it all over my house...I wear it. Anything gold, I love. [Gold Rush] has the perfect name and packaging."

When I asked her which celebrity she would love to send it to, she responded with her "icon" Madonna - and Marilyn Monroe, if she were living.

So how does Paris Hilton spray her perfume? "About five sprays," she says. "One on each side of my neck, my breasts, and then I spray it into the air and walk through it." There you have it, folks. I'll never do it any other way again.

P.S. Remember that time I ran into Paris Hilton at New York Fashion Week? Yep. She really is nice.

Cargo Cosmetics Land Down Under Eye Palette

Review of the Land Down Under summer eye shadow palette
I'm so thrilled about a new eye palette - always. A limited edition? Even better. When it comes to beauty products, a great eye palette like this new release from Cargo Cosmetics is a must

Why? It lasts forever and there are endless options (and no, I probably won't be daring enough for the turquoise matte "manly" shade - you figured, right?). This limited-edition palette is simply gorgeous - it's called the Land Down Under eye palette and it includes 12 long lasting, shades. Can I let you in on a secret? These are labeled as "summer", but I really find most of them will look amazing into the fall, so there's no need to toss it or not consider it for now. (I mean, I'm not one of those who only wears certain hues for certain seasons. As a working mom on the go, I use whatever colors in whatever palettes I can find on my counter!)

Bonus points, too, for the dual-ended brush and black eye liner that comes with it. At $34, that's a pretty great price for all of those goodies. Don't you think?

You should apply shadow to the lid, crease, brown bone and outer corner. And if you're more daring than I am, you can mix and layer colors. I tend to generally use a light shade to cover my whole lid, and a pop of color on my lid. Take a leap with your colors (I'm listening to my own advice here!) because you never know which color you might really fall in love with. Like an Australian holiday, eh?

You can find this palette and Cargo Cosmetics at CargoCosmetics.com or Ulta.com

Oh and psst...I'm wearing this palette in my outfit post from Tuesday. Scroll down the page...

[Disclaimer: I was not provided compensation for this post. I was sent this palette as a sample for testing and for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own. In love with it.]

Delete Blood Cancer with Georgia May Jagger

Like many people, I know someone with cancer. For me, it's my mom. She's been living with leukemia for 14 years now and I'm so thankful for her health right now. 2014 was a rough year, not because of her actual cancer, but because of a freak tick bite that got out of hand because of her low immune system. Living with cancer can be a scary thing, even on good days. I pray every day for her health, and I love what is being done with the annual Delete Blood Cancer Gala

This was the 10th year and Georgia May Jagger is Coty's global ambassador in the fight against blood cancer. Her Rimmel London look was amazing, and since I was sent all the details, I thought I'd be lovely and share. I honestly wish dressing up pretty would just make it all go away, but alas, we are making progress and every little bit of time and money helps the amazing doctors who help my mama. So, thank you.

How to get GMJ's look:

SKIN
Rimmel’s Fix & Perfect Pro Primer and Rimmel’s Match Perfection Foundation in Nude

EYES
First, Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in Under My Spell was used to create a smokey maroon on the lid.

Then, two coats of Rimmel’s SuperCurler 24 HR Mascara ensured a long-lasting curl while her brows completed her eye look with the precision and easy application of Rimmel’s Brow This Way Sculpting Kit in Blonde.

Beauty Favorites

It feels like half a century since I've written about beauty, but thank heavens I'm not even that old yet. But I do apologize, beauty lovers, and I hope you've stuck around. I guess I've been so busy sampling the goodness, I got carried away.

Just to give you an idea of what I've been using over the past several months, here is my list of right-now must-haves that I rely on religiously:

PUR Eyedentity Luxe Firming Eye Cream ($49)
I put this one first because, hello, we all need an eye cream to help us look our radiant selves. And I feel like I'm doing my part against aging just by slathering this on before bed. This brand is pure (duh), so I love the ingredients and it contains a key peptide to prevent future damage. Lactic acid fights all those nasty age markers and fine lines and wrinkles say see-ya.

Michael Kors Coral Eau de Parfum ($110, 3.4-oz)
This scent launched in January and I've been using it every since. Gush! Think tropics...beach. Take me there now. Well, since I'm not leaving for several more months, this fragrance helps. If you love floral and fruity, you'll love this. Mandarin. Pink pepper. Raspberry. Orange flower. Loves it all. And gorgeous orange bottle for the counter!

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer ($15-30)
I went to Sephora yesterday just to get my hands on another one of these. There was only one left! Everyone loves this stuff - I'm personally obsessed. I once received it as a sample, and it's one of those products that even beauty bloggers buy again and again. They have cute smaller-sized versions as well for half the price at $15. But really this bronzer is the perfect amount of radiant color to brighten up your normal foundation. I use this instead of blush - it's so good.

Essie at Alexander Wang Fashion Week Show

Essie nail polish at Alexander wang fashion show
I've always been an essie fan when it comes to my nail polish - it's amazing! Once I was at a conference in New York and even heard the founder (Essie Weingarten) speak...it was life-changing. No, really. Her polishes are so pretty - from the colors to the packaging. Not to mention, they have the cutest names and stay put for ages.

Essie does a lot of work at New York Fashion Week, obviously. And these looks are from the Alexander Wang show. Just beautiful! Michelle Saunders for essie created a soft nail, inspired by pink chalk. (I mean, who doesn't love that right? Channeling my inner child right now.) To achieve the look she layered tuck it in my tux over fiji, and then applied matte about you to add a matte, chalky finish. These sorta remind me of my favorite cookies with royal icing. So sweet and smooth. LOVE it. (and now I run to go buy the ridge filling - the secret ingredient!)

Oh how I wish I were backstage viewing these nails IRL...but for this season, these images will have to do!

To get this look:
1. Apply ridge filling base coat to clean, filed nails.
2. Next, apply one coat of fiji.
3. Them apply one coat of tuck it in my tux.
4. Finish with matte about you.

Expert tip: When creating a chalky nail look, use ridge filling base coat to create a smooth, flawless surface.

Jay Manuel Beauty at BCBG

Jay Manueal beauty looks from fall fashion week
Since I can’t BE at fashion week right now (because alas, I’m a working mom in fashion at the moment…), I might as well write about how truly brilliant the beauty was at BCBG’s show this season. Of course it’s most always on fleek, but this flawless look created by Jay Manuel Beauty reallllllly made me do a double take.

The wash of metallic sheen on the eyes is perhaps why we all take note, because it makes the entire face light up with a true (effortless) glow. And I adore this look. Being too made over is so not chic. A little bit of gloss…foundation…voila! Show off that amazing skin this fall (and um, I think I’m gonna have to get me some of that perfecting foundation Jay Manuel has going on because>>> WOW).

“We wanted to celebrate healthy and balmy skin with our perfecting Filter Finish Collection that gives the illusion of flawlessness. The muse for the look and the collection is a dancer/artist. She’s always on-the-go, true to herself and holding onto that youthful, playful spirit in a grown-up world,” Jay says.

To create the look, here are the exact products used:

For the Men: Ralph Lauren Fragrances Polo Supreme Oud

Like 'em rugged and masculine? The scent, sillies. If ever there is a brand I look for in men's cologne that never (ever) disappoints, it's Ralph Lauren. It's one of those don't-think-twice-about-it purchases. Like, do I buy the shoes? Duh, ya do. Everything that Ralph Lauren stands for - classic, rich, luxurious, supreme, and in this case masculine - is embodied in each of their scents. Polo Supreme Oud is certainly no different.

While holiday gift giving may be over, it's now time to look for yourselves - and the men in your life. How will you start the new year? So fresh and so clean with a new scent, is what I suggest.

Oud is not only a gorgeous bottle of luxury, but a hypnotic blend of precious spices, smoky oud and rich woods. It's a great contender for a new signature scent.

The ingredients are:

TOP NOTES: Cinnamon, Pink Pepper
MID NOTES: Smoky Indian Oud Accord
BASE NOTES: Guaiac Wood, Vetiver

If you want your man to be mesmerizing this winter, this is the scent, for sure. Oooh. La. La.

Get it for $125 at Bloomingdales, select Ralph Lauren boutiques, and RalphLauren.com.

Soap & Paper Factory at Anthropologie

Anthropologie is like a wonderland for me. I could browse it for hours - and I have! While obviously the store's clothing is amazing, they have pretty much everything excellent for the home, too. (I'm pretty smitten with my "J" coffee mug, in fact.) But guess what? It's gotten even better. They now have these bath products that are soooooo good. The premium line Mission Grove by Soap & Paper Factory is now at Anthropologie, and I've been lucky enough to test drive. Without even opening the beautiful packaging, you can smell the truly amazing scent. My bathroom is now a spot of serenity.

The new collection features four core fragrances to refresh and restore, but let me tell you, Sakura is the ticket. I haven't sampled the Madagascar Vanilla, Fig & Honey, or Cardamom & Coffee, but I can tell you the Sakura scent balances apple and citrus with sweet heliotrope. It's an amazing experience and it smells so pure. I can't stand an overpowering fragrance, and this one is just sweet enough. And once again, the packaging. Like anything from Antro, it's incredible. Oh, and free of any nasty chemicals (sulfates, parabens, etc.) Can it be true?? Dream come true.

Here are the products from each fragrance:

Shea Butter Bar Soap $8
Sea Salt Body Scrub $12
Travel Sized Body Lotion $12
Travel Sized Body Wash $12
Treatment Facial Mask $16
Scented Drawer Liner Papers $18
Big Rollerball Botanical Oil $24

Try the body wash and bar soap, for sure. I can say that you will L-O-V-E.

Mini Gift Guide is Here!

I decided to do a smaller "mini" gift guide because who doesn't love tiny things - without a lot of extra reading, right? There are sooooo many "gift guides" out there right now, I didn't wanna clutter the space, but truly bring you just a few new, hot items I'm choosing for my family. These options are all SUPER affordable because we all know this time of year is not about the gifts, but the togetherness, am I right? (Of course, who doesn't love a fun gift or two on top of the togetherness, who are we kidding!)

ONE
C.O. Bigelow Freesia Candle ($42)
Hello, candles makes the world go 'round. If there is someone hard to buy for in your circle, go with a candle! This freesia scent = uplifting. And 10% of the proceeds this year go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

TWO
Josie Maran Body Butter ($35)
The purest Argan oil around whipped to perfection. An amazing gift for any beauty-lover in the fam (or someone with skin sensitivities - this stuff is golden!). It exfoliates with the best lightweight formula (choose from a ton of scents!).

THREE
Katy Perry Mad Potion ($49)
Bourbon vanilla mixed with sweet white peonies makes this scent the best for the hip chicks in your group. Such a fun bottle to reflect this pop star.

FOUR
David Beckham Beyond ($25)
Weirdly enough, Walgreen's actually has a great selection of beauty bounty and this new fall fragrance by David Beckham is sure to be a teenage hit with spicy cardamom and zesty grapefruit. It "blends confidence and glamour."

FIVE
Little Tikes Cook 'n Store Kitchen ($69)
The best of THIS gift? It comes fully assembled. Oh, yes! And you can even fold it up to keep your already crazy toy space less cluttered. It includes 32 accessories and is comes in the prettiest red. Not a bad deal, eh? For 18 months +.

SIX
bareMinerals Swept Away Brush Set ($28)
Maybe it seems silly, but a brush set is a necessary luxury that you just don't wanna spend time buying yourself. bareMinerals has the best brushes, so any gal pal would be blushing to own this mini 5-piece set that includes: Mini Soft Focus Face Brush, Mini Angled Face Brush, Mini Soft Sweep Eye Brush, Mini Precision Smudge Brush and the cutest brush case!

SEVEN
Little Tikes 7' Trampoline (on sale for $183.99!)
For kids 3-10, this is a fantastic option! It's enclosed and compact enough to fit in smaller outdoor spaces. It has both netting on all sides and padded frames. Safety first - and, of course, hours of bouncing fun!

Disclaimer: I was provided product samples directly from brands in exchange for inclusion in my gift guide. These are truly gifts I hand-picked, and I hope you love like I do!

How to Get Hot Winter Hair

It's getting colder, so I found it super necessary to show you exactly what you need to keep your tresses looking gorgeous in the approaching frigid air.

LOVE a hat, but don't want hat hair? Read up on these tips from O&M Global Creative Director and Stylist/Colorist Janelle Chaplin.

1. Beat hat hair by parting you hair in the opposite direction as it normally falls for instant volume. Once you remove your hat, flip it back and use an O&M Classic Brush to smooth and even out your tresses. For added shine and to reduce static, use O&M Frizzy Logic.

2. Plan on rocking a beanie? O&M Project Sukuroi, a golden smoothing balm, can be applied to the hair before styling for an easy look. Start by parting hair evenly and French braid each side to create a trendy look under your hat. French braids keep hair together and do not leave dents in the hair once removed.

3. Keep curls intact while walking to the subway, car, or bus by twisting your curls into a low, loosely pinned bun at the bottom back of your neck. Remove the pin and shake out. Spritz O&M Know Knott, a conditioning detangling spray, liberally to ends to fight stubborn tangles and keep your newly formed loose waves intact.

4. If you're looking  to transition your hair color for the cooler months, take your strands a few shades richer by having a gloss placed on once a month to keep the color looking luscious. To keep hair hydrated, swap out your conditioner with a moisture mask and use from the midsection to ends every time you shampoo. O&M Seven Day Miracle is an intense hair mask containing Macadamia Seed Oil and Organic Argan Oil, which help in hydration and keep hair healthy.

My Latest Beauty Hacks

I feel like the best way to show you some of the products I've been using is to show you photos of when I've been using them. See exhibit A. I've been using the Mally Dark Circle Corrector for the past few weeks and hello. I mean, I thought I'd try it because I might need it, but gosh did I not really how. I. needed. it. I'm one for trying any product that might work a miracle on my tired eyes (which aren't quite so bad since little L started sleeping wonderfully after my supermom sleep training...sorta kidding...not really...I totally give myself credit!).

I apply this "secret weapon" every morning as the first step in my makeup routine, and honestly I don't know how I ever survived without it. (Coffee can only go so far...) I twist the applicator a bit to release the product, then I pat about five dots both under and above my eyes to instantly brighten. Miracles can happen, y'all. You can buy this sweet little thing (as a duo!) on qvc.com for $30. Trust me, honeys, money well spent.
What else I'm now addicted to? Oh, you know, a sweet, sweet eyelash curler. These are the things I get excited about...truly. A shiny new Shu Uemura eyelash curler, folks. I kinda talk to Molly Stern in the social world (who does Reese Witherspoon's makeup on the reg) and one of her recs to me was this curler. Duh, I had to try immediately. I don't think I was fully prepared for the instant glam effect it's had on my eyelashes. I've used lots of curlers, and it doesn't sound like a big deal to use one versus another. But trust me when I say that this one is different than others. It really does curl and it's comfortable when it does it. It feels so luxe to use. Guess that's why celeb stylists swear by it, eh?

Disclaimer: I was sent both products for the purpose of testing in this review.

Jason Wu + Lancome for Fall

I swoon over every Jason Wu designs, so it's no surprise that this beautiful (ah-mazing!) makeup palette collab with Lancome. would be any different. This is Jason's fourth collection with the brand and it doesn't disappoint. We're embracing modern classic this fall, folks, and I can't wait. Something about the dreaded hot, hot end of summer always has me longing for those fall color palettes (and boots!) every time.

And why is it that I'm such a sucker for pretty makeup in a palette? Lips...cheeks...eyes...this one has everything in the collection and I'm excited to try it...and wear it. Squeal!!

The eye and cheek palette is $60 includes six bold shades, two contouring shades and six nude shades. This fall it's all about dramatic eyes and elegant nude eyes. Can you say sophisticated with avant garde flair? That's what Jason is dubbing it...and I like it. Minimal, seasonless and playful. The lipstick is $30 - choose the signature red lip and transform your look with one swipe, or look fresh and effortless with the subtle, nude shade. I love the options!

Summer, I'm so over you already. Let's get moving towards fall's gorgeous shades, shall we?

The Perfect Wavy Hair in Seconds

Happy Tuesday, sweet things! To continue from yesterday, I wanna mention the latest sea spray I've been using to achieve the results here. Sun Bum Beach Formula Beach Spray is $15 well worth it, wavy-hair girlies.

I just had to spread the word because (a) I use a lot of different sea sprays and (b) when I find something I l-o-v-e (that works!) I like to spread the word to my dear followers because I know I always appreciate the same thing myself.

I've been using this spray sent to me (enriched with sea salt, sea kelp and seaweed) for the past couple of months (it does last awhile). Just spritz a little after a shower...and throughout the day to freshen up! Some things I love and look for in a quality sea spray soulmate? Lightweight...not crunchy...separates strands and really makes/enhances waves. This one is freaking paraben free and I could scream from the rooftop how amazing that is. A product I love that my hair loves. And, hello, made in the USA.

Can we all just have an endless summer filled with amazing beach waves? Please and thank you, Sun Bum.

Beach Hair Don't Care

Whew, I'm back, y'all. Let me tell ya the first day back from a two-week vacay is rough. I'm a little too used to having a million family members around to watch baby L as she wonders too far into the other room (or up the stairs...eek...she's such a climber) or entertain little C. while I eat a sandwich in peace. I must admit it's nice to be home, but the cottage we stayed in was so nice, I kinda wish I was back in that bed and not my own (considering I probably won't have it to myself for very long tonight with these silly kiddos!). Since beach hair is one of my personal fav things about "living the beach life" each summer, I thought I'd share with you my latest and greatest fav product that keeps my hair looking perfectly wavy.

I've written about this before, so bear with me. I love to talk about beachy waves! It's really quite simple if you have any wave to your hair at all. Shower at night...use an amazing spray (this is the key)...air-dry it overnight...wash up the next morning and lightly comb it and spray more of your fabulous sea spray. Voila!

In this case, my new fav sea salt spray (never be without one, wavy hair-loving folks) is the new John Frieda Sea Waves. And it's only $9.99 at your local drugstore. I was sent a sample, and it's truly awesome! (And, yes, I even used it throughout my beach vacay because, duh, I don't always get in the ocean.)

Trust me when I say I've tried and used many different sprays (I love a sea salt spray as much as a dry shampoo...they're my absolute go-to's), so me loving this one is the real deal. It creates the perfect amount of tousled waves...it's not "crunchy" at all (so gross and so 80s) and it really works. The problem with a bad spray is that it doesn't do anything. I can certainly tell a difference with this one, folks.

So basically you can have beachy hair even while not at the beach. I love that.

7 Days of Giveaways...bareMinerals 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition

I've been using the same foundation brand for almost 10 years (shhhh...the secret's out!). bareMinerals is absolutely amazing, and I have no plans on changing anytime soon. It's made my skin more radiant than ever - and I really love that it gives me plenty of coverage, yet feels weightless (this is huge for me!). My skin has never felt so clear and smooth since I started using it. (Liquids are not my friend.)

This month, bareMinerals celebrates 20 years of the Original Foundation! Leslie Blodgett has truly built a beauty empire and the Original Foundation has been groundbreaking. I'm so excited I was able to meet and talk with her in New York a few years ago...truly a beauty inside and out.

While I don't use the original foundation anymore myself (I use the pressed compact because I'm always on the go with the kids, and it's great for touch-ups!), it literally saved my beauty life. It's such a great formula that works well on so many people and if you haven't tried it...enter this right now because you'll just love.

Today I'm giving away the 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition...squeal! It comes with a gorgeous Original Foundation and Beautiful Finish Brush (retail $38.00). The purpose of this handy brush is to deposit more with less effort (I just love all the bareMinerals brushes!). To win this set, just enter your info in the box below and good luck!

Here's to I Heart Heels turning 7 and the bareMinerals Original Foundation turning 20!

2015 Beauty Obsessions

I'd like to go to bed right now, but how could I sleep without telling you about my psst...beauty obsessions? Girls, read up.

I just got a sample of the cute-as-a-button Marc Jacobs Honey and my oh my is it too good for words. First, look at the sweet bottle. Next? Hear me out. If you're a fan of Daisy and Lola, etcetera, etcetera, I think you'll love Honey as well. It's energetic, it's fun. It's just what I need to be wearing in 2015. Get me outta this funk. Green pear...fruity punch...orange mandarin. Let's get this sassy party started, puhlease. The one-ounce bottle is just $52. And you'll wear it every day, trust.

In the shower? (Because I haven't lounged in my big bathtub in ages. Tears.) I'm loving the samples I got of Skin&Co Roma shower gels. Because when a girl has about five minutes for a shower, the products must be luxe. I have a few on rotate, but Rosemary & Verbena is my refreshing fav. It has organic ingredients and none of the nasty parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, etc. And these days I'm really looking for scents that truly brighten my day. This is it! They're just $19.
I used all of these products here :)

What else? Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray. Heck. Yes. I ran out of the zillions of sea sprays on my counter and kinda freaked out. A product that beauty bloggers like moi would actually buy again and again and pay a crazy $15? This one. It was actually the only sea spray I could find on the shelf at Target, so home it went. I couldn't believe the results! It really smells good and makes my waves stand out. Just don't spray too, too much or it will make your hair downright wet (powerful stuff). I spray on my towel-dried hair just before bed (and sometimes refresh during the day).

Annnnd don't forget a brand dear to my heart...Skyn Iceland. My tired eyes couldn't live without ya. Ahhhh the Icelandic Relief Eye Pen. At $20, you need this magic pen. It's soooo easy that I use it nearly every night before bed. Celebrity makeup artists rave about it (as well as the brand's eye gels, another fav). It actually contains vitamin K, peptides, orange peel for de-puffing (our main goal here) and Icelandic kelp. Yep, it's as awesome as it sounds. Just turn the dial and place under your eyes and voila (the cooling sensation is pretty addictive, too). I'm literally scared to go to bed without it.

On that note...bedtime. Xoxo

Oh, wait! I totally forget ONE more thing. It's They're Real mascara by Benefit. OMG. This mascara is so worthy of a 2015 BEST mention, I just couldn't leave it off. Once my samples run out, I'm going to be purchasing this goodie over and over all year long. It's honestly the best mascara, drugstore or luxe, I've found because it really adds dimension to my lashes and makes them pop. It thickens and it lengthens. So, so pretty. I'm so happy I found it!

Gift Guide (Part 2)...Happy Shopping!

As promised last week, here is the rest of our gift guide...squeal! Let's go shopping! No, really, don't you love finding gifts for others? It's one of my fav things in life...I think I missed my calling as a buyer. I just adore picking out gifts for people, and pictured here are some of my favs this year for baby, women and men (they're the hard ones, am I right?). But if anyone asks, you don't have to tell them I Heart Heels sent ya, you can totally take the credit. ;)

1. Cara Mello Knit Money by Kathe Kruse ($29.90)
Let's face it, babies don't need much for their first Christmas. They won't even remember it! But this sweet, hand-embroidered monkey is so soft with its knit body. It's just waiting for lots of hugs! This is the perfect gift for any infant you're buying for this season.

2. Best of Burt's Bees ($14.99)
I love a good Burt's Bees gift set. They're so inexpensive, yet everyone loves Burt's Bees. The gift sets always include so many products in them, too. This best of kit has the classics like Coconut Foot Cream, Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream and Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. Alright, alright.
