How I Wore My Heels: With Ankle Zippers (Giveaway!)

I never thought a simple zipper at the bottom of my jeans would make me so happy! Yet, it does. Since I already own a pair of Sanctuary Charmers, I knew I would love the fit like whoa. They're a fav pair in the ol' denim closet of mine (you know the one...it's a denim wonderland in there). But to be honest, I was crazy scared to try this mint hue - yikes! I had seen all of the "cool girls" completely rock them like no other, but moi was uncertain of the pale hue. What I found out? It's completely charming (pun intended) and looks amazing by contrasting with darker hues like this brown, and even navy. The Charmer jean has plenty of stretch so it's actually one of the comfiest skinny jeans around (no lie) and the rise isn't too low. They run true to size and retail for $128, BUT...you can win a pair here! Enter your info in the box below and I'll choose one winner of a pair of pastel ankle zip Charmers at random. Best of luck! xo

Oh, and here's how I wore my heels:
- Ankle zip Charmers gifted by Sanctuary
Beaumont Cape tee gifted by LnA (love, LOVE this cape tee from one of my fav brands...the sepia tone is so gorgeous IRL and it's realllllly soft. I love the cape style, and it's so sheer I wear a tank (by LOFT) underneath it.)
- Floral heels by BCBGirls from Piperlime (I've owned these an eternity and they've never let me down. A great pointy toe!)
- Gold/Wooden bangle gifted by Karen London Jewelry (look, I'm even on the site!)
- Crossbody bag (in Bordeaux) gifted by Treesje (such a great purple hue and the beadwork is phenom...I sorta love how pint-sized and adorable this bag really is...great for on the run, like me!)

How I Wore My (Stacked) Heels...Wanna Win Some?

Holy freaking cow was it windy when I took these photos...O Spring, where art thou?? Seriously. I never imagined the wool hat I bought to wear to NY fashion week in February would be lingering in my wardrobe so close to April...eek! But alas, we must embrace the weather and instead of wearing a sleeveless peplum dress the other day, I wore a long-sleeve animal-print cardi with jeans and a nice, stacked heel. Did I tell you it's the year of the stacked heel? It is. If your feet aren't wearing a d'Orsay, they need to be in a stacked heel like this one. Don't go too thick because it will be make your legs look thick as well. This suede and metallic "Cleo" version from Sole Society is just the ticket.

And you know what?? I'm giving them away! No, not mine, silly. Your very own pair! You must be squealing? This time, we're switching things up just a tad, so you must head over to the @iheartheels Instagram page to enter. You'll:

Follow @iheartheels & @solesociety on Instagram
"Like" the stacked heel photo posted on the @iheartheels page
Comment with your shoe size & tag @iheartheels with hashtag #iheartcleo
I'll choose a winner at 5:00 p.m. CST this Friday, March 29!

Here's how I wore my heels:
Wool hat from Charming Charlie (I found this on sale end of season (ha...supposedly!) for around $6 Total steal.)
- Animal-print cardigan gifted by PacSun (check out the spikes on this cardi...whoa! I'm sorta in love with this piece...which is so unlike me!)
- Black tank from GAP (could be vintage...haha)
- Skinny jeans gifted by Vintage Revolution (I've had these for several years now since I discovered them at Robert Verdi's fashion week suite. Hands down, the best pair of jeans in my closet. Shrug.)
- Brown croc clutch from Banana Republic (have had this an eternity, which shows classics never go out of style.)
- Stacked "Cleo" heels gifted by Sole Society (this brand is amazing, if you haven't discovered yet...and Julianne Hough has a new capsule collection with them. The styles are all so adorable and wearable, I could literally own every pair.)

How I Wore My Heels: Sick Day

I got soooo excited about spring! And then...it got cold again. And then...I got crazy sick all weekend. Like, whoa. So then...two things happened. One? I put on this super-duper comfy like no other unicorn (!) tee I just got in the mail from Skip N' Whistle (it's made by American Apparel, so that explains things). It's totally bringing back all of the My Little Pony memories in my head. And while I admit gray is not necessarily "my hue," I can't stand taking off this tee because it's so soft. There, I said it. (Honestly, this weekend I felt worse than I've felt in a loooong time...with temps inching towards 103. Until this photo, there were no heels, no flats...no leaving bed.)

The second thing that happened was once I starting feeling semi-human again, I immediately reached for my new Tsubo heels...aren't they delightful with the blue strap? Tsubo continues to bring the quirky-cute A-game each season, and this spring they have some pretty amazing styles (both heels and flats) to choose from. I don't rave about the comfort on every heel I own, but these must be raved about because they're def feel-good shoes, folks. They have a memory foam footbead (squeal!), and the straps don't even irritate because they're velcro! What's crazy is I took off a pair of flats I had been wearing and when I slipped into these, I couldn't believe the comfort difference. Some of us are just born in heels, perhaps? Now here's hoping I'm on the mend...

Here's how I wore my heels:
- Unicorn tee gifted by Skip N' Whistle (lightweight and soooooft; I plan to wear this into the spring/summer with cutoffs!)
- Skinny jeans by Rock & Republic from Kohl's
- Pearl necklace from local shop, Tulips
- Metallic travel bag by Stephanie Johnson (this is an inexpensive line I discovered from one of the LuckyFABB conferences...you can use them soooo many ways!)
- "Anara" t-strap heels gifted by Tsubo (kinda retro, and so much fun...the stacked heel means I'll wear them for life.)

How I Wore My Heels: Colorblocking

I'm such a sucker for bright hues lately...thank you, spring! Recently, I was feeling under the weather (actually I've had a mil days of allergies lately...it's the worst!) and Chromatic Gallerie sent me a surprise - a shoe delivery! Folks, it doesn't get any better than that. I perked right up. The company's known for their customizable heels in the cutest of names - these? Grin 'N' Berry It. EEK. Stop the cuteness right now. Besides the amazing color (that I didn't own, gasp!), I have to go ahead and brag and say these shoes are to die for comfortable...really and truly. Not only are they a classic silhouette, but get this. I got the tallest 4-inch heel they sell, and they were making me wanna do laps around the neighborhood in them. I can't make these things up.

So, yes, colorblocking is still a go, girls. And two of my favorites are blues and pinks. So I combined several shades of blue, including this new spring arrival from Michael Stars (this beautiful hue is called Aruba) and voila! An outfit that completely pops, but doesn't scream too much. Add a subtle handbag and you're ready for the chic, warm days ahead.

Here's how I wore my heels:
- High/Low tee gifted by Michael Stars (MS is never a letdown, and their spring collection is very strong...so many gorgeous hues! Tees are their thing, but there are tons of other cute items, too. Look for more from me soon!)
- Cobalt jeans gifted by Express - (remember these from last year's post? I love this color in a jean...just beware that mine have shrunk and not stayed quite as vibrant as my other colored denim. Still love!)
- Blue flower bib necklace gifted by RiffRaff
- Nude bag by Urban Expressions
- Berry heels gifted by Chromatic Gallerie (I adore this shoe company; they're the cutest! And who doesn't wanna customize the color, heel height and width on their shoes?)

How I Wore My Heels: With Camo

I took these photos in the moonlight because I thought that would be awesome! Ok, no, really, I just ran out of time (it's something called a toddler) and almost captured them in pure darkness by the time I was done, ha. Turns out these metallic black wedges by Bronx I just started testing out for spring truly glisten in the moonlight, and therefore, I heart them like no other. What else? Being from the south, I never thought I would wear anything camo...nothing, nada, not even a tiny spec of the fabric. (It's not exactly done in the best fashion around these parts.) Well, PacSun sent me another (crate!) of spring goodies, one thing led to another, and voila! I can't stop wearing (this particular) camo. I mean, it has studs on the shoulders?! This is camo done right, y'all.

I've actually been wearing it to pieces because you can wear it with soooo many things - for instance, just last weekend I wore it with black jeggings, a moto jacket and black sneaker wedges. Great for the "spring transition" weather! But, I wanted to show you another way to wear it come spring (60s here this week...ahhhh), so here I paired it with the Acid Wash Halter Dress. This is a great summer dress, but one I would personally feel more comfortable layering (I'm just not 16 anymore...sigh...). I love the mix of it with the camo!

Feeling like you need a new pair of shoes? You could win a pair of these wedges...in brown! Just enter your info in the box at the bottom of this post and you're all set. I'll choose one winner at random next week! Just in time for spring, eh? xo

Here's how I wore my heels:
Camo shirt, acid wash dress and pendant, gifted by PacSun - can I mention this pendant is is the best I've ever found? It's actually looooong and I can never find that. So good.
Metallic wedges, gifted by Bronx (these are a dream...you'll def wanna win; they're even more magical in real life!)

How I Wore My Heels: NEON

Hey, dolls! Remember last year when it started to warm up and everyone went craaaaazy over everything neon? Well, the trend's not going away this season either and I'm, well, happy. Just a small boost of color can brighten a mood pretty quickly, I've discovered. I've noticed when I wear hot pink, people notice...and they love it! As long as you don't go overboard, you're good. With that being said, YES MY PRABAL GURUNG FOR TARGET SHOES ARE A JOY! Couldn't help but scream that from the rooftop. My shoe closet's never been so freaking happy.

What's absolutely perfect is I had been wanting a pair of neon heels for ages, so when I saw these I knew they had to be mine. I know neon isn't what we might call classic, but the silhouette and these pumps and the solid hue is and the neon will pep up nearly anything for spring/summer (and into fall, perhaps?). Talk about a fun pair of shoes. And might I add that they're comfortable...gasp! It's true. Some folks have said theirs run a bit large, but I found mine a truly perfect fit to my normal size. They're actually the only thing I'll wear with my boyfriend jeans lately because I like the balance of semi-sloppy and fancy. ;)

One other spring biggie we must address right now. The baseball tee. I'm not sure when my obsession with the color pink began (as my highlights kept getting blonder and blonder, maybe?), but I have a crush. on. this. shirt. It's by Pima Doll. The sleeves are actually perforated, so I have yet to see another baseball tee so chic, girlies. This color won't be available until March 5 (and word is some celebs will be sporting it soon!!), but it also comes in these other two colors.

Two words for spring/summer? Embrace color. Life's too short to wear black every day. ;)

Here's how I wore my heels:
*Perforated Raglan ("Baseball") Tee gifted by Pima Doll (this shirt's fitted, but I'm even wearing a size smaller than usual and it works)
*Boyfriend Jeans by Current/Elliott (bought these at Barneys last September and they're super-duper comfy...could've gone down a size, but stayed with the reg. Keep in mind sizing is iffy and it all depends on how you personally want them to fit...a true baggier boyfriend or more fitted.)
*Mini MAC gifted by Rebecca Minkoff (I'm carrying it as clutch, but it also has a chain strap)
*Wooden Bliss Bangle gifted by Karen London (I even model it on their Web site, lol!)
*Neon pumps by Prabal Gurung for Target (at just $39.99, I literally had my credit card waiting as I refreshed the page for these babies at 1 a.m...I certainly didn't wanna miss out!)

P.S. My cheap lil' tripod broke for the THIRD time, so yes it's time to invest, I know. Gotta give props to D. for running home to take these photos of me. Swoon. Engineer turned photographer, perhaps? :)

How I Wore My Heels: Mix and Match

I don't consider myself great at really putting things together. Some people have an amazing knack for putting together these amazing outfits that look like each piece was meant for one another, but really they've been carefully chosen from several different stores, genres, brands, etc. I realize I "play if safe" many days, but that's just part of who I am and my personal style. I love to embrace that. But, then sometimes when I step out of my comfort zone, it feels so good! This outfit here isn't playing it safe for me at all. While I love my red heels, I tend to pair them with a classic LBD or a pair of black leggings. But today I decided to go with printed jeans (since they're my latest obsession, after all). Not to mention, I found this charming cargo vest at my fav local store in town (Scarlet), and knew I had to have it, and wear it right away (do you do that, too?). I hope this outfit inspires you to step out of your "style zone" just a bit, and take a few risks. Printed jeans...red heels...vest over tee. You can do it! ;)

Here's how I wore my heels:
- White "Emerald Bay" tunic gifted by Nation LTD (also seen here)
- Olive green cargo vest by Willow & Clay (I have a feeling this will pair with everything...all the way into the summer. Looks great with skirts/dresses, too!)
- Printed tribal jeans gifted by PacSun (honestly, I would've never realized how much I love PacSun's jeans (so many style options, too) - I love how these have a print, but it's very subtle, so they're still flattering. Just make sure to go up a size!)
- Red heels gifted by REPORT (also seen here)
- Rose gold watch (also seen here)

How I Wore My Heels: Grey Street

I hope everyone enjoyed a long weekend...please say you did? I personally enjoyed our *sunshine* and mild temps (for this time of year), so got outside more than usual, which was nice. I hopped over to one of my secret photography spots and practiced some newly-learned tricks from a camera class I took over the weekend. Photography is something I figured out I sort of enjoy...I actually have relatives who are professionals. How fun would that be?

I'm so ready for winter to be over (duh, right? I guess there are some people who enjoy it...), but until then, I'm trying to spice up those grey days with a little pop of color and metallics. I find it very hard for me to wear grey, but I love it so much! I acquired this new LnA tee over the holiday break and these are the newest pair of jeans I'm trying out. What?! Yes, they're animal print, and I thought I would never see myself wearing a pair. Let me say, they are surprisingly very easy to wear (just make sure you add neutrals!) - and comfortable, to boot. This pair is by Bleulab - and drumroll, please - is reversible! Yep, they reverse to a cool black coated version and that makes me excited. I can be daring one day, and not so much the next. That's just about how mu fashion demeanor goes most weeks. And, of course, ankle boots have not left the building...um, nor will they ever. Get thee a pair if you haven't already - they're your skinny jeans' best friends.

Here's how I wore my heels:
Grey Checker Sweater, gifted by LnA (this sweater is comfy cozy, and I adore how the back is longer to wear with tighter pants)
Pink "Favorite" tank by J.Crew (I buy these in bulk, and they usually go on sale, one color at a time. It seems no one wanted this color...no idea why. LOVE.)
Detour cheetah skinny jeans, gifted by Bleulab (I seriously tried these on at the end of dinner (I know, I'm insane) and they fit like a glove; no joke. They're comfy as can be and I'm giddy over the fact that they reverse. P.S. Celebs adore.)
Bib necklace from local shopping mecca, Savoir-Faire (I'm obsessed x 1000 with these dainty necklaces that mirror the poplar Peter Pan collar. I even wore this one to the BCBG runway show last September.)
Metallic logo clutch, gifted by Tory Burch (a fun piece that makes me feel insta-glam...the chain is removable!)
Chiara ankle boots in Anthracite, gifted by Alberto Fermani (probably the most quality pair of boots I own...swoon. I wear with every pair of skinny jeans I own...tuck them in and go! And the perfect heel height to tote the little guy around.)

How I Wore My Heels: In the New Year

Ok, yeah. So some might not consider these "heels," but they're the hottest trend in heels right now next to the pointy-toe pump. It began in 2012 and isn't going away this year, so I'm enjoying embracing them while I can. Being a mom to a toddler and one who hearts heels isn't always an easy to task to balance. So...when I'm running around with little C., I def look to these babies. They're my second pair of sneaker wedges because obviously I owned brown and needed black. While my brown ones are ASH (which I adore), these are by Report and sold at retailer PacSun. I love each pair for different reasons, but I'm drawn to these for their comfort and what seems to be a slightly lower wedge than my others. Obviously, the black goes with everything, so I'm enjoying wearing them with everything from skinny jeans to leggings. Once warm weather rolls around (can it please already?), I'll try them them with cutoffs. Can't wait for that!

Here's how I wore my "heels":
Oxblood sweater by S&A Company - this is the color of the season, but I bought it because of the HUGE cozy factor. It also has one of those flap pockets that looks torn, but my hair's hiding it here. Oops.

Bejeweled bib necklace - courtesy of the last LuckyFABB Conference I attended...obsessed with this thing!

Gray layering tank by Bobi - this is such a great brand and I tend to buy it every beach vacay because a lot of the pieces are so light and airy. I layer this tank with everything!

White watch gifted by Sprout - I'm loving how oversized this watch is, and that's a big trend right now, too. The black and white is classic. By the way, it's organic!

Star-print skinny jeans gifted by PacSun - this store has some amazing printed jeans right now, so be sure you get there soon! Just remember to size up because they run uber small. I was squealing to find stars.

Sneaker wedges gifted by PacSun (online) - Report is a fav brand of mine, so I knew these wouldn't disappoint. I love the black and silver combo and cool factor, obvi.

How I Wore My Heels: Holiday Parties

Yep, you knew there would be a holiday party edition of how I wore my heels. One of my fav things about the holiday season is getting all dressed up in my heels (obvi) for at least one occasion...even if it's for family and no one really cares. The other day, in fact, little C. said to me, "we're not dressed up today," referring to himself and D. Then, he looked at me with a blank stare, and informed me that I was, in fact, dressed up (even though I was merely in cords and sneaker wedges). Sometimes, I wish I was good at just letting loose and being carefree in the way I dress (cue Beyonce's If I Were A Boy here), but it's just a part of who I am. Since I was a little girl, I've loved to play dress-up...some things just never change! Shrug.

Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about leather this fall/winter season (faux or not), and had an undying sensation to find something perfect for the holidays. Something wearable, actually. While I love my leather pants I bought this fall, I rarely wear them. So when Nicole Miller approached me with this jewel of a top? Well, there was no hesitation. This cobalt blue is quite possibly my fav color of all time, and, natch, I already had a pair of shoes to match it. The laser-cute design on this shirt is phenom, and it's something I'll wear for eternity. Pair it with black pants, or if you're daring and going more cash, skinny jeans and (my fav) sneaker wedges. Either way, you'll make a statement from both the front and the back.

Here's how I wore my heels
* Laser Cut Faux Leather Top gifted by Nicole Miller (leather front...jersey back! such a fun twist on a classic tee design and so very comfy.)
* Black "Martin" trousers by Banana Republic (believe or not, I used to live in these "work" pants and they are def staples. So quality and they've stood the test of time for years.
* Blue heels gifted by Jessica Simpson Collection (these add spice to ANY outfit...duh)
* Dagger Chain Bib Necklace gifted by RiffRaff (I'm a sucker for a statement necklace and I think this adds even more to this already amazing top!)
* 3-Zip Rocker Clutch by Rebecca Minkoff (I scored this at my local TJ Maxx a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. SO many zippers and the fringe makes me happy! There's a skinny strap, too, to make it a crossbody.)

How I Wore My...Weekend Wear

Photobucket It truly is fall (I mean, someone needs to rake leaves, right? haha) and lately I've been living in this get-up from PacSun. I like to call it my weekend wear. A cozy plaid flannel shirt (in Christmas red, no less!) and a latte go great while blogging in front of the fireplace. And while I can't say I do this often, I did actually do this the other day and it was GREAT

Now, I know a fashion chick like me should never tell on herself, but here goes. Don't judge, ok? I wore this shirt a couple of weekends in a row...styled different ways, natch. Ok, whew, I feel better. We're all guilty, right? And I have almost as many skinny jeans in my closet as peep-toes, and I can tell you these jeans right here are terrific. They've got stretttttttch, which this girl needs for comfort and fit (I think I'm pear-shaped? aka larger hips and butt!). Now, what sets these two PacSun pieces apart are the cute little details - studs on both. The pockets on the shirt and the front pockets on the jeans both have adorable studded details that make them cute as a button.

And might I mention the amazing riding boots I received out of the clear blue from JustFab? If you know me, you know I can hardly wear any boots that cover my calves - they're larger than life. These? They fit like a glove...I mean, you can see here. I literally giggled as I slid them on. And while I didn't get a shot of the back of the boots (hey, it's a one-woman show here, folks!), they have these amazing buckles all down them. Enough to make several people stop me and say I love your boots.

Oh, and since I had a tussle with the curling iron before this shot, I slipped on a "vintage" NY Yankees hat to toughen up the look. Makes everyone think I'm so rugged, right? Shhhh...

Here's how I wore everything:
* Red flannel shirt and skinny jeans gifted by PacSun
* Riding boots gifted by JustFab
* Valentina clutch gifted by Botkier
* Vintage NY Yankees baseball cap, straight from the former stadium ;)

Photobucket
P.S. A humongous "thank you" to PacSun for sending me an entire crate of goodies from the holiday collection. No, really, they sent me a wooden crate chock full of things to try out. Which reminds me...I have a new pair of sneaker wedges to show you soon...
