How to Clean Your Make-up Brushes

For the longest time, I never even used a make-up brush. I must admit I was completely clueless about my beauty routine, and even used those brushes that come with the product in junior high (gasp!). Well, now that I'm much wiser and a self-professed beauty junkie, I must pass along my advice to you. If you're not using make-up brushes, use them! They make a world of difference in how you apply your make-up, trust me.

So, once you start using them, how do you clean them, is the question. Because I assume you use the same brushes over and over each morning as I do, they can quickly become filled with filth and bacteria, which is terrible for your skin (be gone breakouts!). And with a schedule like yours, do you really have tons of time to devote to cleaning them? That's why I am love, love, loving Sephora's Daily Brush Cleaner ($14). It's an anti-bacterial spray that is super-duper easy to use! Just spray directly onto each dirty brush (whether it's for powder, blush eyes or lips), and they become instantly fresh and ready for your next application. I love it to because make-up brushes can be expensive (!) and this prolongs their life.

Now, for when you have just a little more time on your hands (perhaps, the weekend you're not jetting to Cabo?), rinse them with the Purifying Brush Shampoo ($14) from Sephora. Spray this just as you did the cleaner and rinse with water thoroughly (you don't want shampoo on them).

And there you have it, the down and dirty (pun intended!) guide to cleaning your brushes. Sephora's made it so easy, you have no excuse anymore. Now get to cleaning!
