Coats for a Good Cause

What's your favorite charity? Every three months, I sweep through my closet and empty out all the clothes and shoes and handbags I haven't worn in quite some time. A few tears are shed and goodbyes said (I loved that ol' fuzzy Abercrombie sweater I had, sob), but in the end I know I don't need them and there are lots of other people out there who do. So, at the end of the year, I slug a huge bag piled to the brim (I always record them and this year there were three pages!) to my local Goodwill. So, have you head of New York Cares? It's a charity in NYC geared towards improving social issues.

Completely Bare is an award-winning laser hair removal spa with locations in Palm Beach, NYC and Scarsdale, NY (super cute Web site too at completelybare.com!). They've partnered together with celebs like Olivia Palermo, Whitney Port, Brooke Shields, Natalie Merchant, Kimora Lee and more to donate the coats off their backs (literally!). What's more, they've autographed them and they're now on eBay (bids start at $150) until December 27. The money raised from the auctions will go directly to New York Cares. Each December, the charity organization collects about 80,000 gently used winter coats and distributes them to thousands of men, women and children who would otherwise go without.
