I don't like fashion. And I don't care about beauty. So when Julie - my wife - handed me twelve sample colognes from Sephora to test I figured it was a hint that I needed more than my deodorant on a day-to-day basis. The only cologne I have owned this decade was a bottle Julie bought for me on our first Christmas in 2003 that lasted until the 2008 calendar year.
I first tested the Hugo Boss while trying to smell the little bottle and accidentally spilled it all over myself. It was actually a rather pleasant aroma, not understated at all with the amount I was wearing.
Since then, each scent has been worn on a separate day. My personal favorites are the more "classic" scents (whatever that means) such as Canali, Prada, Lacoste, and St. something-or-other (Julie says its Yves Saint Laurent).
While I liked the smell, the brand name of 212 Sexy Men makes me uncomfortable (as does the Diesel label). However, these two and the rest were pleasant and seemed to be a tad stronger than the others (not a bad thing), requiring just a little less dosage. Bvlgari, Giorgio Armani, and Jean Paul Gaultier round out the collection.
Honestly though, I would wear any or all of the products in the sampler. If given as a present, it will allow for a guy to choose his favorite and then redeem the included coupon for a free bottle of his choice (actually, his wife or girlfriend's choice).
This scent sampler is only available at Sephora and is currently available online at www.sephora.com for $50 ($75 value).
(Until she makes me try something else...D.)
