Most Popular Shoe Designs for Women

Are you always keen to keep on top of the fashion trends? Before you hit the high-street for your autumn-winter wardrobe update, have a look at the most popular shoe designs of the season. Pick a new pair from any of these footwear options and you’re sure to be in style:

Chelsea boots
As you read on you’ll notice that this season it’s all about boots, starting with the traditional Chelsea boot. Chelsea boots have been around for decades but they’re making a particular style comeback this autumn-winter, predicted to be favorites with both men and women. Chelsea boots originated in the Victorian era designed as a practical leather shoe that could be slipped on and off with ease due to its revolutionary elastic panel. Today it’s still a great choice for those who have a busy lifestyle and it has become synonymous with sophistication too. Classic black Chelsea boots are the obvious choice, but if you want a glamorous twist on the design looked out for the heeled and wedge platform Chelsea boot options.

Hi-top trainers
Probably the most relaxed shoe design on-trend at the moment, the hi-top trainer is (you guessed it) a trainer with a high top fit on the ankle. Typically lace-up or Velcro fastened. Hi-tops were big in the summer, working alongside the Sports Luxe trend, but look set to be a popular purchase for the cooler months, too. If casual shoes aren’t your thing, hi-tops are also available in more glitzy finishes suited to special occasions and the party season. Look out for metallic effect faux leathers and subtle suede designs.

Biker Boots
Another look that seems to resurface almost every winter season, the biker boot is back in fashion this year, in a big way! You’ll find many takes on this masculine inspired shoe, from chunky biker ankle boots to knee length wedge designs with multiple zips and studs. Biker boots may typically be associated with the tom-boy but can be a wonderful contrast with a flirty tea dress or elegant midi skirt.

High Leg Boots
Feeling brave? Embrace the daring and sexy high leg boot. It’s not a design that’s to everyone’s tastes, particularly if you’re a bit worried of coming across like Julia Roberts in ‘Pretty Woman’, but you’ll be seeing plenty of them on the high street and designer shop floors this winter. Popular high leg finishes are in leather and suede with a zip-up side opening. Team with jeans or an autumnal midi dress.

Cut-out boots
This season’s most innovative shoe design has to be the cut-out boot! A playful twist on the ankle boot, it showcases sections of naked foot or pretty tights in much the same way cut-out summer dresses revealed a bit of back or stomach. Unlike the summer’s cut-out trend, the cut-out boot doesn’t actually have holes in the boot upper, but instead features straps and buckles that leave sections of your foot on shoe. You could say it’s half boot, half sandal.
