After weaving through the crowds of Charlotte Ronson's Fall/Winter 2014 presentation in the basement of the Hudson Hotel I was pretty delighted with what I saw. (By the way, those crowds included the Hilton sisters, the totally awesome and gracious Angela Simmons --yes we had a bit of a KiKi---, newly engaged Jamie Chung, that insanely gorgeous Disney star Zendaya, Jesse Metcalfe, and, of course, twin Sam Ronson at the DJ Booth).

Charlotte's designs aren't complex or
an over-the-top aesthetic. But they are wearable. When you find yourself in
boutiques like the much celeb-shopped Blue & Cream on the Bowery in
Manhattan, her designs are usually the first to grab.
Her fall
2014 designs are a departure from her initially beachier, borderline
urban Lily Pulitzer sugar-sweet looks. The palette is darker with blues,
blacks, reds, and lots of velvet. Some of her lace and poppy print
velvet dresses (that kind of look like lips from afar) reminded me of
late 80s/early 90s Betsey Johnson throwbacks. Shoes all came from Modern
Vice. Fashion seems very into combat footwear for fall (more on that to
come).

My favorite looks included a stripe mesh blue dress (blue stripes, black sheer panels) with high neck. The fact that it was styled with a Tuleste hat modeled by Livia Pillmann kind of sealed the deal (that girl is a scene stealer by the way!). Also loved, loved, loved the paisley pajama suit set. Loved! These refreshing looks will sell pretty fast.
