Bobbi Brown: The Tools You Need to Look (even more) Gorgeous!

Sparkle and shine during the holidays (shoot, all year!) with Bobbi Brown's Copper Diamond Collection. I always loooove Bobbi's shimmer brick compacts and this one doesn't disappoint ($40). It's the compact of the season.

The five shades are candlelight, gold, copper, beige and sand, and let me tell you. These shades are flattering on everyone (especially us redheads!). The colors remind of my very own Christmas tree at home, trimmed in sparkly, glittery gold and amber ornaments. Just apply the beautiful warm toned-hues along the cheekbones (too close to your nose and they'll be calling you Rudolph). Even use it to highlight your eyes by applying close to your browbone with your fingers. Double duty!

Bonus: The glitter lip balm ($19) is so much fun, you'll love the hint of sparkle that makes your lips extra kissable!

And on to the party...
The new Party Collection is completely gorgeous with all-new shades of metallic eye shadow ($20) and glitter lip gloss ($19) (these actually stay on for hours too, gasp!). Show up to your next holiday party completely transformed. I'm really digging the Indigo Nights shade, a sparkly navy blue great for green eyes like mine. Use the shadows and glosses alone or pop several of them into your very own Bobbi Brown palette. Now, how cool is that?

Ok, so you've got the stuff, now how do you apply it?
Available tomorrow at booksellers nationwide (yes, tomorrow as in Monday!) Bobbi is releasing a new book Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual ($32). Learn how to create the perfect smoky eye or even how to be a successful makeup artist in the business. This book is for EVERYONE and it's step-by-step so you don't have to guess anymore on the basics, plus you can even experiment on new ways. Beginning in January, you can also find the book at all Bobbi Brown counters and at bobbibrown.com.

Click here for an exclusive sneak peak - enjoy!

Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy...Zzzz

There's something about Christmastime that brings out my love for the smell (and taste!) of peppermint. I love peppermint tea, peppermint lattes, peppermint milkshakes (hello, yum!!) and now peppermint lotion. Peppermint oil is so refreshing and has such a clean scent. It's relaxing and is meant to make you feel more focused (slap some on first thing in the morning before work!).

I've been using the new Aromatherapy Distillations by Crabtree & Evelyn body lotion before bedtime. Ahhhh....While the scent is a little strong (it's a blend of eucalyptus, lime, peppermint, grapefruit, mandarin and rosemary), it's so soothing (with cucumber and lemongrass extracts) and actually helped me zonk out after a long day pretty quickly. It made my skin feel nice and smooth and, most of all, refreshed. It feels cool at first (it is made of 100% pure essential oils, after all) and then works into the skin to produce a nice soothing feeling. It almost feels like you've just stepped out of the shower. Use after you actually do get out of the shower and let the refreshing extracts go to work!

In Love with TOCCA "Brigitte"

I hope everyone had a fabulous turkey day - I know I did! So stuffed though and wishing I hadn't eaten so much dressing. Must go to gym this weekend. Repeat: Must go to gym this weekend. So while I was getting dressed this morning, the doorbell rang and lo and behold it was my new TOCCA fragrance. Yea - Happy Thanksgiving to me! I had been waiting all week for it to arrive.

The lovely "Brigitte" eau de parfum ($68) just launched from TOCCA Beauty this fall and it smells incredible! Inspired by the supremely lovely screen-siren Brigitte Bardot, it's a mix of ginger and spice and everything nice. It's the perfect girly-girl scent - picture a spice market in Marseille or a long weekend trip in Morocco. Plus, the bottle is just as pretty, so you'll want to display it on your counter with pride.

Here are the fragrance notes in case you're curious:
Top notes: Ginger, Rhubarb, Papaya
Middle notes: Moroccan Rose, Iris, Saffron
Bottom notes: Sandalwood, Musk

Of course the top notes are the most vibrant, so you'll get a nice fruity/spicy scent. At the same time, you'll still be able to smell the fresh flower undertones (love!) with just a hint of the heavier sandalwood and musk that gives it a nice fall flavor - just right!

If you're a fan of Sephora, ask them for a free spritz of it when you're there. Ah...love at first spritz...

Label Lust: Betsey Johnson

Sometimes you just can't help but be thankful for good old-fashioned dresses. Betsey Johnson is a fashion icon and even on my least favorite (and most raucous) celebrity (ahem, Paris Hilton), her dresses still somehow manage to create that sweetheart, princess of the party effect. Lace is where it's at this fall/winter season and Paris, while at sister Nicky's birthday party in Vegas last month, really pulled off Betsey's Babydoll Battenburg dress ($340) with charm.

The pink and black combo gives it an edge, although I much prefer the gray and ivory version. My favorite part is the adorable sash tie on the front. And I just love how Betsey's dresses can stand for themselves. No flashy baubles or standout pieces to go with it. Just maybe a cute heart-adorned purse like Paris flaunts. You know, to keep them guessing.

You can find Betsey's feminine frocks at Betsey Johnson stores nationwide. Visit BetseyJohnson.com for store listings.

P.S. In honor of Thanksgiving and to spend time with those I love, I won't be blogging tomorrow. I hope you will do the same and enjoy friends & family. At the end of the day, our glitzy handbags will go out of style and our great miracle face powder will run out, but our loved ones will still be there cheering us on and supporting us. And thank YOU for being one of my readers - I am truly blessed!

Back at ya on Friday!

Learn to Accessorize

Deck the halls with tons of accessories, fa-la-la-la-la! Now that Thanksgiving's here tomorrow, I'm really getting in the holiday spirit. We actually put up our tree super-early this year (last weekend, yikes!), and even though the weather down south is still in the 60s and sunny (which I love!), I have been pulling out all the great holiday accessories. And I don't mean for my house, but for my outfits!

One of my fav places for one-stop accessory shopping is Banana Republic. (I mean c'mon isn't this bracelet amazing?) I would pair this black and ivory gold cuff with most any outfit I own, it's just that classic. It has that regal look - the kind of bracelet you might slip on with a brocade jacket or sophisticated cardigan. But, you know? It would look just as chic with jeans and a tee!

Another trend I'm crushing on with jewelry right now is stars. I spotted a pair of star studded earring the other day, and haven't been able to get those things off my mind yet! This rhinestone star necklace from Banana is the very same concept, and I love it! It's so feminine and takes you back to your childhood but makes you feel grown up all at the same time.

Walk this Way
And you can't neglect shoes this season - there are some stunners! The "Darcie" piped slingback (in steel gray) is killer with its sexy metallic sheen and stacked heel (your feet will thank you!). Go bare or pair with colored tights, just don't get toooo crazy with color or patterns since the metallic should be the standout. (Psst...it's on sale now too at bananarepublic.com for 30% off!)

L'Oreal Giveaway!

So...I decided with it being Thanksgiving and all, it's time for another giveaway! If you want that shiny hair I was telling you about in the post just below, why don't you go ahead and e-mail me at iheartheels@hotmail.com and I'll send it to you for keeps! You'll get the shampoo, conditioner and conditioning treatment.

Start e-mailing, girlfriends!

xoxo

L'Oreal Paris Vive Pro

I always want to be "that" girl - you know, the one who has the silkiest, shiniest hair? Don't get me wrong, I have been blessed with hair that's both healthy and has a subtle red hue. But, I don't feel like my hair is that shiny, ya know? And even though it's not damaged, I would says it's just "there" and there's not much in the shine department (can I take some of the extra oil and transfer it to shine, please).

This is where the new L'Oreal Vive Pro line comes to the rescue! It's meant for long hair that's damaged, but works for those who want shine, shine, shine. We're all guilty of getting a little blow dryer happy, so this haircare (infused with a new pearl protein complex) alleviates that stress. Within weeks, you'll notice your tresses become stronger, tougher and (gasp!) shinier. Of course, the more you use it, the better results. So use it like this: shampoo and condition daily, and use the conditioning treatment weekly.

Bye bye damage, hello shine!

P.S. Read what others are saying at Total Beauty!

Whish Three Wishes Holiday Set

This weekend is, of course, one of the busiest (if not THE) busiest shopping weekend of the year! So instead of standing in a long line waiting to check out, why not just visit whishbody.com? It's not just about convenience either, it's about pampering, girls! For the past couple of weeks, I've been using the Whish body wash, and can't get enough. It comes in the perfect pump bottle so you don't have to worry about spills or using too much product at once, and it smells completely dreamy (the scent is "almond").

To triple the indulgence, the Whish Three Whishes holiday gift set includes three times the luxury with a Sugar Scrub, Body Lotion AND Body Wash. Packaged in a pretty pink box, it makes a fabulous gift for family and friends! If you could have three wishes this holiday season, what would they be? I'm going for sugar scrub, body lotion and body wash, ahhhh....

Alex and Ani's Charity by Design Collection

I am a huge fan of bracelets. I LOVE them! They're easy to slip on and add an instant extra piece of glamour to an outfit. In fact, last month when I almost lost my black chunky bracelet from Kitson, I almost cried (my co-workers thought I was insane when I posted a note to the bathroom mirror asking for its whereabouts). With that being said, I am completely digging Alex and Ani's bracelets not only because they look fabulous, but because every purchase helps someone. And with the holidays approaching this week, what better way to give something than to give to charity?

Charm for Life Bangles

To raise awareness for cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV), the "Charm for Life" Bangle Set retails for just $32. Choose from Yellow gold or Silver Vermeil. Don't you just love the cool Chinese charms? They're actaully Chinese peonies, which is the symbol for peace and reproduction. Bonus: A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

Rock Crystal Bangles

Transform all that negative energy into positivity with the quartz "Rock Crystal" Bangle Set. The beautiful crystal is meant to help attain balance and inner harmony. Something I think we all could use a bit of this holiday season. Bonus: In honor of “Fashion Rocks” and Stand up 2 Cancer, Alex and Ani will donate 10% of each sale to the Stand up 2 Cancer Foundation.

P.S. Celebs like Rihanna, Jessica Alba, Miley Cyrus and Scarlett Johansson all own a set of these bracelets!

Trend Alert! Havaianas Spotted on Victoria's Secret Supermodels

A couple of weeks ago, the swank celeb-fav Fontainebleau Hotel at Miami Beach reopened with a $1 billion renovation (ok, now that's a lot of new decor!) Tons of stars were there for the event - and that included the Victoria’s Secret Supermodels! They were spotted backstage in Havaianas getting all glammed up for their big night, the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (to air Dec. 3). Isabella Gular and Alessandra Ambrosio are pictured here. Gosh, they even make flip-flops look sexy!

P.S. If you don't own a pair of Havaianas, get a pair now! They're my most favorite pair of flip-flops - I even gave pink ones away at my beach wedding as bridesmaid gifts. Super cute and super comfy!

The Perfect Holiday Gift Sets

If you're a fan of Smashbox Cosmetics, this holiday season they have a whole slew of gift sets perfect for every girl in your family! The Rapture Holiday Collection includes 8 different sets of make-up favs from foundation primer and lip gloss to eye shadow duos and liners. One of my favs is the Lip Gloss Collection. I admit I'm one of those obsessed with gloss. I never was a fan of old-fashioned lipstick. Since the gloss craze started several years ago, I have to try every brand and color I can get my hand (er, lips) on.

This set is only $29 and all of the colors are gorgeous! I hate it when a set only comes with one or two colors you would really actually wear. I would honestly wear every single color in this set from Ravishing (a shimmery rose nude) and Stunning (a shimmery bright pink) to Radiant (a shimmery pink plum) and Candid (a pink with golden shimmer). Lovely (a shimmery soft pink) and Illume (a pale nude with iridescence) are both perfect for that understated pretty glow (wear them with smoky eyes!). I would even layer a couple and see what new color I come up with - fun!

Besides giving the gift of great, shimmery lips, why not give the gift of great skin? Exclusively for the holidays, Philip B Botanicals has a gift set so beautiful and so yummy, you'll want to keep one for yourself (but you wouldn't do that now, would you?). The Chocolate Milk Gift Set ($62.50) comes with Chocolate Milk Body Wash & Bubble Bath, plus the new Chocolate Milk Body Creme. They smell like your favorite scoop of chocolate ice cream, seriously! Cocoa Butter conditions, Oat Proteins and Wheat Amino Acids revive and soothe, Glycerin moisturizes and Aloe heals. I mean, what more could you ask for in a cleanser? This set is all the pleasure with none of the guilt!

Celebs fans include Britney Spears, Brooke Shields, Courteney Cox and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Look (and Smell Chic!): DKNY Jeans

When you were a kid, did you have certain favorite books you liked your parents to read to you? I know I did. My favorites were always the scratch and sniff ones. There was something about the interaction of being able to scratch the book and smell something deliciously good like apples or bananas. And my parents sure got a kick out of it, too (I still hear them tell stories to this day about how I loved those scratch and sniff books!).

The DKNY Jeans Juniors line has a couple of new holiday tees ($29) that are actually scratch and sniff cherry and bubblegum. They'll take you right back to your childhood days. And for me, that's a great thing, because I never really left my childhood days (my name means "youthful one" and my husband insists I'm still a kid).

The tees are short sleeve, but great for layering over other tissue paper-thin long sleeve tees (layer it over a contrasting color, like pink over brown or yellow over pink, to make it super-cute!). I like the crewneck on the cherry version, but I am really liking the off-center v-neck of the bubblegum tee. Pair them with jeans and your favorite riding boots, and scratch and sniff away! (We won't tell anyone the secret to your "new perfume," we promise.)

www.LisaHoffmanBeauty.com you will receive 25% off in addition to a free Vitamin A&C Serum from Lisa’s 24-Hour Skincare collection.* Just make sure to use the promotion code LHBBDB for all orders.

*with $100 purchase

Aveda Dry Remedy

If you're like me, you have oily hair and try not use too many products for fear of pumping up the oil factor. But, if you're like my mom, you have completely dry hair and can't seem to pump enough moisture in your tresses (oh, how us oily-hair gals envy you!). That's where Aveda's new Dry Remedy haircare system comes to the rescue. There are three steps to the system, meant for the driest, most brittle hair (totally my mom - she can go an entire week without washing her hair! sigh...).

First, you have the moisturizing shampoo ($24), which should be used daily. My mom uses this and loves how the fragrance isn't too overpowering (just a relaxing slight hint of floral), and it really adds moisture to her dry hair. Next, you should follow with the moisturizing conditioner ($24) (daily as well) - this really helps dangle the hair, which is nice when you go to comb it. And last, the moisturizing treatment masque ($26) gives that extra tender-loving care - this is what really penetrates into the hair and inputs all the moisture. You should only use this once a week or as needed.

In a recent study by Aveda, this system improved dry hair by up to 63% - isn't that amazing?
So what makes this system work so well? It's a blend of deep moisture conditioners like buriti oil and pomegranate. Macadamia nut oil detangles, while special organic oils like sunflower, jojoba and soybean really lock the moisture in for long-lasting results. Your dry hair never felt so good.

Intuition Warehouse Sale Nightmare

Ok, so you know how I posted last weekend about the AWESOME warehouse sale at shopintuition.com? My dream come true really was too good to be true! Let me first apologize if this same thing happened to you as it did me. So, I thought I had scored 5 pricey items worth $300 for $50, right? Nope.

I track my package yesterday to find out it's a day early - yea!! Only to see a measly small Fedex bag sitting on my doorstep. I think to myself, this can't be everything? And it wasn't. The hoodie to my hoodie-pants outfit was on backorder and so were the leather flip-flops and Bailey 44 tee. I had received the pants to the outfit and a sleeveless soft gray hoodie (which I love, but that's not the point). Some deal, huh?

I got an e-mail today saying the hoodie was out of stock and I won't be receiving it, and then I called and I evidentally won't be receiving my flip-flops or tee, either. Of course I wasn't charged and they said I could send the pants back, but who cares? Lousy service and dishonesty totally just lost me as a customer. Goodbye Intuition, goodbye!

Drugstore Chic

It's pretty apparent the economy really stinks right now, so my strategy is this. In order to make room for nicer things, I like to buy some things inexpensive. And of course you can never have enough make-up or nail color! I like to call it "drugstore chic." Even though it's nice to splurge (completely guilty here), sometimes it's nice to be able to have everything you need at a much smaller price. Granted there are many products that just won't allow a sub (like NARS Orgasm blush or Bare Escentuals foundation). But have you tried the N.Y.C. New York Color Metro Metals Fall Make-Up Collection ($2.99-$4.99)? (And yes, you're reading those prices right.)

Metallic make-up is so in right now - you want to look holiday-festive, right? This collection includes absolutely everything you need to shimmer, shine and become the belle of the ball. From face glow and eye color to nail paint and lipstick, you can get the entire collection and still have room to buy other things like groceries (gasp!)!

And with a beautiful face, a girl has to have nails of the same. You know how one of my fav designers of all time if Tracy Reese? Well, I am completely crushing on the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Fall Nail Color Collection ($6). For the fifth season, the two designers have partnered to create both chic and wearable shades, straight off the catwalk. The 10 fall shades include: Raven's Wing, Moonstone, Quartz Chameleon, Divinity, The Good Earth, Cruel Heart, Alchemy, Torrid Bloom, Night Lily and Stormy Blue.

The best part is you can roll out of bed in your PJs (or not...I just can't walk out of the house with no make-up, is it judst me?) and buy all of these at your local drugstore. (Put your leftover money in your savings like a good girl, or be a bad girl and get those patent heels!)

I Heart Heels In the Press

I was recently asked to be in my great southern city's local weekly metro paper - and how could I resist? I'm not one for plastering my picture on anything (really, I get embarrassed about the tiniest things you wouldn't even imagine. my face turns red if a hair's out of place!). But one day, my co-worker sneaked around my desk while I was gone to lunch and stole a picture of Tim Gunn and me that was resting next to my computer. She scanned it in to Sync Weekly and the rest is history.

(Of course my blog was listed as my redirect URL instead of www.iheartheels.com, but hey, I can't complain!) Check it out here.

OMG! Serena Spotted in Porter Grey

Ok, all you Gossip Girl fans. Did you watch the Thanksgiving episode this week? If you did, you should've seen Serena (aka Blake Lively) in all her chic and silky splendor giving thanks in a sassy red and orange skirt and top combo by Porter Grey. What an amazing color combo! I think that's what keeps these characters on the edge of fashion - always a new way of wearing something, whether it's a new pairing of colors or a unique mix of styles. While slightly liberal for my own family gathering (that short skirt and fishnets would never fly!), even so, I am still adoring it. The chunky necklace adds glitz and of course by pulling her hair away from her face, you can really focus on the jewelry and the outfit.

The top is a Silk Charmeuse T-shirt ($225) and the skirt is a Silk High-Waisted Skirt ($305), both from the Fall 2008 collection. I love silk for the holidays because it gives that extra panache and just makes you feel more glamorous. Porter Grey is a great line too - and a celeb fav (Becki, Newton, Sophia Bush). A partnership of two sisters, Alexandra and Kristen O'Neill, the pieces are both fun and classic at the same time. Tailored lines mix with bold pops of color that makes an otherwise average outfit look insanely cool. I know, it's a collection I'm thankful for this season!

Rock & Republic Cosmetics

I've always loved the rock-star vibe of Rock & Republic. It's denim for your bold and vibrant side. So have you tried the new cosmetics collection (it just launched this fall)? It gives you that same luxurious feeling, and the packaging is to die for (once I've used it, is it wrong to keep the empty compact?). Especially for the jet-set girl in you, the compacts come in glistening silver, Swarovski crystals and even real black patent leather (so chic)! I personally love the Exhibition Pressed Powder ($44). The silky smooth texture is great for fighting that annoying uncontrollable oil (don't you just love having oily skin?) and provides sheer to medium coverage, which is all you need! I absolutely hate it when you can actually SEE the powder on your face (ugh). This powder's great for setting in your make-up for hours, so you can rock on through the night, of course!

Don't forget: The lip gloss ($26) is a bullet full of super-luxe color and glimmer. The Vitamin A renews skin cells and Vitamin E fights free radicals, so even your lips can stay healthy!

Get the goods at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's or Nordstrom.

EyeEnvy...An Eyeshadow Revolution

Honestly, this is the coolest thing I've seen in awhile (besides those Switch Flops where you can switch out the straps on your flip-flops)! The ColorOn EyeEnvy Tinsel Kit ($25) (limited-edition) from Sephora was designed by a celebrity make-up artist. So what is it exactly? Well, it's pretty much stencil eyeshadow for your eyes! It completely takes the complication out of how to apply your eyeshadow (I know, I struggle with it too!). They're peel-off mineral cream shadows, and the best part is they're hypoallergenic, long wearing and crease proof.

The kit also includes a jar of GetSet setting powder and a powder application brush. And if you get stuck? Step-by-step instructions come with it, plus tips on how to apply the perfect look. The super-cool designs and stunning colors are can be applied in minutes, which is another reason I'm digging this invention!

How to Clean Your Make-up Brushes

For the longest time, I never even used a make-up brush. I must admit I was completely clueless about my beauty routine, and even used those brushes that come with the product in junior high (gasp!). Well, now that I'm much wiser and a self-professed beauty junkie, I must pass along my advice to you. If you're not using make-up brushes, use them! They make a world of difference in how you apply your make-up, trust me.

So, once you start using them, how do you clean them, is the question. Because I assume you use the same brushes over and over each morning as I do, they can quickly become filled with filth and bacteria, which is terrible for your skin (be gone breakouts!). And with a schedule like yours, do you really have tons of time to devote to cleaning them? That's why I am love, love, loving Sephora's Daily Brush Cleaner ($14). It's an anti-bacterial spray that is super-duper easy to use! Just spray directly onto each dirty brush (whether it's for powder, blush eyes or lips), and they become instantly fresh and ready for your next application. I love it to because make-up brushes can be expensive (!) and this prolongs their life.

Now, for when you have just a little more time on your hands (perhaps, the weekend you're not jetting to Cabo?), rinse them with the Purifying Brush Shampoo ($14) from Sephora. Spray this just as you did the cleaner and rinse with water thoroughly (you don't want shampoo on them).

And there you have it, the down and dirty (pun intended!) guide to cleaning your brushes. Sephora's made it so easy, you have no excuse anymore. Now get to cleaning!

Got a Fashion Question?

Completely fuzzy on what to wear with your new boots or how to wear your favorite colored tights? Or, just want to let me know of something that's worked for you (a great way to wear a wide belt, etc.)?

E-mail me at iheartheels@hotmail.com and I'll post the answers!

Peace, Love & Lipstick,
xoxo

Gossip Girl Tonight - Leighton Meester in Sretsis

Bet you've heard plenty of times of Gucci and Prada, but have you heard of Sretsis? (Fun fact: It's sisters spelled backwards!) It's also a line by three Thai sisters (graduates of Parsons in NYC), the line radiates both serious chic and laid-back boho. Such a variety of styles to choose from. Many of the flowy dresses are playful, eccentric and fun. But this one here? The Fleur Scallop Cape Dress is both ladylike and tailored - and it's being featured on Leighton Meester on Gossip Girl tonight as I speak (ahem, type)!

I love the powder blue hue - it looks great with Leighton's dark tresses. And the layering? Genius! The green contrasts nicely (love the bunched sleeves), and the "fake" belt on the dress cinches her figure and ties in perfectly with the rest of the chocolate brown accessories (brown and blue are one my fav color combos!). The button details, grouped in fours, add sass that further clarify you're a true fashionista and not just a wannabe.

P.S. Want it for yourself? The cape dress is available at Elegance in Brooklyn, New York (718-339-1228). Although, I warn you, the price tag isn't for the faint at heart. Retail is approximately $909. Dare to purchase or just dare to stare.

Sale Alert!

Here's a sale you absolutely can't miss, so check it out now! I was actually looking for inspiration for a post late last night, crawling all my regular sites, when of course I got a little distracted. I just happened to stop by ShopIntuition.com to check out the goods, when I discovered their first online warehouse sale (which it seems I had missed for the most part) had been EXTENDED! What did I do to deserve this marvelousness?

Here's the list of what I bought: Matching hoodie/pants, leather flip-flops, a super-cute striped tee from designer Bailey 44 and a gray sleeveless hoodie (of which I can't wait to layer!).

TOTAL COST TO ME: $47.95. Did I mention there was NO shipping or sales tax through the end of November?? TOTAL ESTIMATED NON-SALE COST: $305.

Intuition is a celeb fav and since most of us can't make it to the hills of Hollywood on a shopping whim, why not rack up online?

Of course sizes and colors are limited, but can you really beat a hoodie for $9.99?

Enjoy - comment and let me know what you find!!

Lauren Conrad In...Lauren Conrad Collection

Sweet, flowy dresses so pretty and low-key mixed with high-waisted skirts and belted ensembles so pulled together, you can't help but covet. Last month was Lauren Conrad's Spring 2009 runway show, a part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. And what a delight!

A newcomer to the fashion scene, Lauren's designs embody California cool with a sense of schoolgirl charm. The line is youthful and fresh, much like Lauren herself. And the best part is she loves to wear it too! She strutted down the runway at the close of the show in a black maxidress from the Collection, looking so effortlessly chic I can't help but be jealous. I love, love, love the braided hair (I tried doing this before a wedding last month - complete disaster! Don't you hate it when you can't recreate a look you love? Sigh. Will get back on the horse and try again soon!)

Anytime I see a piece from the Lauren Conrad Collection, it's amazingly cut for the average girl. You don't have to look like a rail-thin model to pull off the cute camisoles or strapless dresses. I'm not a huge fan of the florals she inserted into this season, but only because I think she pulls off the classic, monochromatic hues so well. Nothing fancy or too overdone, and that's what I like about it. It's a real girl's line of clothing that's easy to wear any day of the week. It's that simple!

Party Time

The holidays are fast approaching - can you believe it? I know I can't. And with the holidays, come parties. Office parties, family get-togethers, charity events, yada, yada. 'Tis the season to be festive, and that includes your attire! Tracy Reese is one of my absolute favorite designers of today, and both her Holiday frock! by Tracy Reese (bottom photo) and Fall/Winter plenty by Tracy Reese (top photo) Collections do not disappoint.

I love, love, love the classic sophistication of the lines, and how you can pretty much find a dress for any occasion. Wedding, holiday party, prom, you name it. Tracy pushes the edge ever-so-slightly like with this quilted black rattlesnake tank paired with a sequin slim skirt in Gunmetal. The looseness of the top complements the sleekness of the skirt. And the exotic prints and textures (I mean, rattlesnake and sequins, come on!) are to die for. A little prima donna, a little rock and roll. This party girl ain't goin' home anytime soon!

Another look I'm totally digging is the Heather frock (it also comes in Taupe). So dainty and lovely, isn't it? It reminds me of something I would slip on when I was a little girl while having my very own tea party. While I don't have tea parties anymore, this would be perfect for the grown-up holiday mixers I attend today. The ribbon detail is so sweet and figure-flattering, and I can't get enough of the lace and the mesh overlay. Bonus: This dress actually has sleeves so you don't have to worry about doing extra push-ups at the gym (or freezing your butt off party-hopping!)

Sexy Chic: The Black Tube Dress

Can you say p-a-r-t-y? I am a huge fan of black. I love my black button down, black ruffle dress, black riding boots and black cape. The black tube dress? Just as much. Of course, showing too much skin is so not sexy and more of a distraction than trend. When done tastefully, it comes off as classic, elegant and effortlessly chic. There is no better fashion hit than a black dress, and the slim cut of the tube dress is so very flattering and sophisticated. Minimal jewelry is a must. I repeat minimal jewelry is a must. When the neck and arms are bare, it lends so much more to the dress. Not to mention, it makes your skin radiate with youthfulness. In essence, the focus is on the skin and not a zillion different baubles. (No excuses from guys who say they're just staring at your necklace!)

And heels? Of course! Slip on your favorite black pumps or add brightly-colored booties for a nice pop of color. And get ready to party because, girl, the tube dress was made for it!

Label Lust: Preen

Preen=to dress (oneself) carefully or smartly; primp. It's also Britain's hottest label. Popular with trendsetter celebs like Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chloe Sevigny, the London label first showed at NY Fashion Week just last year even though they've been sporting it across the pond since 1996. Couple Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are the duo behind it all - they first met at 18 and have been transforming simple silhouettes into fabulous works of art ever since.

I like to call it glam chic. The dresses are all so effortlessly pretty, and I'm really digging the sheath Sienna wore recently in London. I love the simplicity of it all, yet it's not merely your average frock. The front pocket details and scoop neck are the details I adore (and I hear it has a racy lace-up back, so unexpected!). The clutch is great to keep it simple, and of course the booties are a standout on their own.

Keep in mind, prices aren't for the faint at heart, hence the title label "lust." That certainly doesn't mean you can't imitate the looks for less. Want something more affordable (and still super-cute!!) from Preen? Check out Topshop's offering of shoes like the suede ankle boots and stilettos. (Aren't the blue ones fab?)

P.S. Net-a-Porter.com has the exclusive resort collection, so go ogle now (and I do mean ogle - the most popular "bandage" dress debuts at more than $1200 and is made for the next Hollywood premiere, not necessarily a trip to the mall).

Luscious Lashes: Benefit BADgal

Want thicker, sexier lashes? (I know, I sound like a commercial!) You have got to try Benefit's BADgal lash mascara. To me, mascaras are one of the trickiest pieces of make-up out there. You have to make the decision, do you want thick & sultry, long & wispy, curled to perfection, or even au-natural. Should you go with jet black or chocolate brown, or what about adding some color with a subtle blue or purple hue a la 1980s. The formula has got to be exceptional - not too clumpy, yet it must have enough substance to be worthwhile and actually show up (I hate it when I buy a new mascara and you can't even see it!).

I think a girl must never be without her mascara and I've been wearing this one for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. It's not a new product, but I must admit I have mascara wanderlust and can never really settle on just one, opting instead to try out a different kind every time I run out. BADgal has left me so fulfilled I may always keep an "extra" around as my safeguard when the next one I try inevidently fails me.

The brush is thicker than most others (even though you can't tell in this photo), so it leaves plenty of color on the lashes. It doesn't skimp one bit. I like to only use it on my top lashes. For one reason, I think adding it to the bottom is just too much. For another, it can get downright messy! Apply it to the top in a zigzag to coat the lashes evenly and well and then go back and just hit the tips. This will make your lashes look even longer and prettier!

P.S. If you're feeling daring this week, don't just try it in black, go for the new plum shade. You would be surprised how a little color can add such life to your lashes. It's the perfect pop of color for fall.

Aveda Vintage Clove Shampoo

Brunettes, listen up! Now you can save the world and your strands too with Aveda's limited-edition Vintage Clove Shampoo, inspired by the very first product ever made by Aveda - the Clove Pure Plant Shampoo. This modern version is remade with recycled caps and over 96% recycled content for the bottle (the shampoo formula is the same) and is in celebration of Aveda's 30th anniversary!
Since I myself am a redhead, I asked a family friend to give it a try for a couple of weeks and see what she thought. She, of course, jumped on it, crossing her fingers her tresses would come out looking tres fabulous. And they did. I didn't tell her the shampoo was meant to enhance her brown hues, making them a richer, darker shade. Here's exactly what H. said:
"The shampoo has a rich lather...and the fragrance is soft, but pleasant. It rinses easily, and my hair feels very clean after using it. I've had several people ask if I have darkened my hair since I have been using it. They think I colored my hair, but I guess the color is just more noticable. I can't really tell a difference when I look at it, though."
It's made of organically grown clove and organically grown coffee to enhance the warm, brown color. And let me just say, the scent is fantastic! Lemon, ylang ylang and black pepper combine with other pure flower and plant essences to create a truly great aroma you'll love. Follow with Clove Conditioner daily and you should see a intensity in color and shine.
Hurry to get your own bottle (retail: $10) - they're being sold online at aveda.com and at any Aveda salon across the country through the end of the year.

Celebs Heart Jeans

Happy Election Day!! Hope everyone voted today in this historic election - I know I was there bright & early at 7:30! Now that you've picked your winning candidate, let's chat jeans:

You know how you have your favorite pair of jeans? No matter how many pairs you own - three or 10 (ok, I plead the fifth) - you always go back to that one pair again and again. Of course, time passes and they become so ragged and frayed you can't bare to wear them anymore...so you adopt a new fav pair. And so on.

Celebs are the same way! They're just like us - they love their fav jeans. Check out Kim Kardashian's wide leg version (Sunset style, Iceland wash - $238) and Leighton Meester's skinny pair (Roxanne style, Mercer wash - $155) each in their Seven for all Mankind, a much-loved label by celebs and fashionistas alike. I must admit, I absolutely adore Sevens! Since I bought my first pair, there's been no going back. Kim's lighter pair is a fresh way to change up your jean wardrobe and the pockets on the front are a nice accent, while Leighton's darker style is great for day and night (so cute with the cropped jacket, too!) Trust me, if you ever try on a pair of Sevens, you'll fall in love. It's that simple. Great for girls who want to accentuate those curves (I call them my "good butt jeans.")

Dylan George is another popular line with celebs like Brooke Burke, and rising label to watch (the next "it" jean, I'm telling you right here). Based out of LA, these jeans are super-cute and I just looove the signature Z pocket detail. Brooke's wearing the Alexandra Flare style in Merchant wash ($265). These aren't your average jeans (no, you don't say Julie? do you see the price?) - they're finely tailored and soft to the touch so you can tell they're made very well. The price of jeans has definitely gone up the last few years (as it seems everything else has too), but if you're going to shell out money for an item, jeans are it. Remember how you always gravitate towards your fav pair in the closet? A $200 pair of jeans is really less than a dollar a day! Now isn't that totally worth it?

Stirrups - Yay or Nay?

I thought when American Apparel tried to bring stirrups back two years ago it was just a figment of my imagination. Sigh. They're baaaack. They've been spotted on celebs of all ages from trendsetter Zoe Kravitz, daughter of Lenny, to mom Katie Holmes (check out the horrendous close-up below).

Let me just say, I did rock the stirrups in elementary school quite frequently, but now? I think I'm gonna have to pass. I saw a pair a few weeks ago as I was browsing Forever 21 for colored tights. Once I noticed the label that read "stirrups," I placed them back on the table where they belonged (and that was almost ALL they had!). I can go for leggings - I have several pair! But anything that pulls underneath my feet and makes me look like Debbie Gibson from the 80's resurrected, is just not cool with me. If Katie has opted for simple tights paired with peeptoes or riding boots, it would have been a hit and not a miss (I'm loving the gray and the cropped cardigan!). Some celebs will never learn.

P.S. Comment back and let me know what YOU think!

Control Your Acne...Super-Fast

I've often wondered why I had to be the lucky one in my family to inherit the acne gene (not to mention the oily hair gene). I'm 27 years old and STILL get pimples, and always at the worst times, of course. Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, parties. Granted they're not the mega-horrendous flare-ups I used to have in junior high or high school, but I have fiiiinally, after dermatologist appointments, face ritual after face ritual and every ointment in the book, discovered my quick fix for that little stinker that pops up and wants to ruin my day. It's the Zeno Acne Clearing Device -or in other words the best zit zapper I've ever seen.

I must admit I was reluctant at first (wasn't sure if I wanted "zap" my face with heat (oy!) and was unsure if I wanted to spend $129), as I'm sure many of you are. But it works like crazy! You just press a button (after charging of course), it heats up for you, and then you plop it on your little nightmare and hold for a couple of minutes until it's finished (it will beep). That's it! It comes with the charger and 60 treatments (so use them when you must because replacement cartridges cost $25).

Keep in mind, the Zeno should be used with your regular cleansing routine and is best used on those really pesky pimples that are under the skin (you know, the ones that hurt reallly bad?). Once you use this device, you'll never be able to give it up, I promise.

You can find the Zeno at your local drugstore like Walgreen's or Target. And there's now a Zeno Pro, Zeno MD and Zeno Mini (so cute!).

Keep a Luminous Glow...& Win Giveaways!

Summer may be over, but don't you want to keep that youthful radiance? I know I do! Since I've been using Bare Escentuals mineral make-up I've looooved the way my make-up looks, and I've noticed my skin is much better as well (no fragrances or additives!). I've also realized my make-up shows up much better in photos. For years, I've tried to translate my face color to something that actually shows up (and stays put!). Something that would make me look like I'm wearing make-up, but not like I'm trying too hard. Enter bareMinerals All-Over Face Color from Bare Escentuals.

I've been using Warmth, but there are so many others that look just as great, depending on your skin color, like Glee and Faux Tan (it's tan in a jar for crying out loud!). It's worked so well for me I've actually been using it as my blush. It gives me the perfect amount of color for that healthy, sun-kissed look. Like I've just been sitting outside for an hour or two sipping a drink at a sidewalk cafe (sigh...). The best part is it's so light on your skin, it doesn't feel all cakey upon application (and doesn't end up cakey at the end of day either) like many other blushes and face bronzers.

Just swirl a small amount into your jar cap (a little goes a loooong way!), tap the excess and brush onto your skin. It can even work as a lip tint or eyeshadow - now how genius is that??

Giveaway Alert!!
The first TWO lucky readers to e-mail me at iheartheels@hotmail.com will win their very own All-Over Face Color as well as Beautifully Luminous Lashes mascara.
